--- How do I get to Green Iguana?
--- You set your own airline reservations, and send us the information
so that we can arrange your airport pickup. The trip from there to
Green Iguana takes about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours, is very scenic and
beautiful, and is hassle-free.
--- Are there set dates to the surf camp?
--- No, you can arrive whenever you want.
--- What kind of facilities does the town of Dominical
have?
--- There are eight local restaurants, a couple of small supermarkets, a fruit market, a pharmacy, a good bakery, an Internet cafe, and a bank with an ATM,
all within easy walking distance of Green Iguana.
--- What's the weather like in Dominical?
--- Daytime temps are usually around 80 - 85 degrees, and the nights around
70-75 degrees, with a cool nightly wind coming down from the mountains.
It's hotter in the dry season (November - April), and cooler in the wet
(May - October).
--- What are the waves like in Dominical?
--- Dominical and it's surrounding beaches have the most consistent
waves in Costa Rica, and it simply never ever gets flat! Dominical
can be challenging, but we make sure you get the best conditions for
your level of surfing, each day, by judging the conditions, and going
to the appropriate beach each day.
--- Are the surf instructors qualified?
--- There are other surf camps, but Green Iguana offers the highest quality instruction in Costa Rica, or anywhere else, period. All of our instructors are
fully bilingual Costa Ricans, current or formerly certified Red Cross lifeguards, and lifelong surfers. They are experts in teaching you everything
you need to know about surfing, from simply learning to stand up and ride, to advanced surfing and competition tactics. They're also one hundred
percent fluent in English, and have a lifelong knowledge of Costa Rican waves and conditions.
--- What is the average age of those who attend the
program?
--- Most people who stay with us are between 20 and 40 years old, and
we've had guests from 6 to 60 years of age.
--- How many people are in the surf classes?
---Usually between five and fifteen people, with never more than four students per instructor. Our instructors make sure that everyone in the class gets close personal attention.
--- Are surf lessons only for beginners?
--- We specialize in instructing first-timers how to surf, but we do teach all levels, from beginner to advanced.
--- Do you teach children?
---Yes, we accept kids as young as 6 years old. Kids have a lot of fun, and learn quickly - they always leave Mom and Dad in the dust. Anyone 18 years
or younger who wants to participate in the camp must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
--- Are the beaches safe?
--- Yes, but you must be a competent swimmer. Besides Playa Dominical's excellent lifeguard program, our instructors are all lifeguards.
